Wuhan Port Maritime Office Collaborates with Wuhan Yirun Technology to Develop “Yangtze Glory” Electric Boat Simulation Operation Demonstration System

In December 2024, the Electric Vessel Simulation Operation Demonstration System, developed by Wuhan Yirun Technology Co., Ltd. under commission from the Wuhan Port Maritime Office of the People's Republic of China, was successfully completed. Centered on the “Yangtze Glory” model, the system underwent two months of research, development, and construction before being formally put into operation.

Green Shipping, Technology First

With the rapid advancement of clean energy technologies, electric vessels are increasingly becoming a vital choice for waterborne transportation and logistics due to their zero-emission and low-noise characteristics. The newly established simulated operation demonstration system aims to promote the environmental benefits of electric vessels through high-precision virtual driving experiences, while simultaneously enhancing operators' professional skills and safety awareness, thereby injecting new momentum into green shipping along the Yangtze River basin.

Hardware with high-precision reproduction showcases technological prowess.

“The ”Yangtze Glory" electric boat model is based on the actual vessel's hull, 3D-printed using photosensitive resin, and scaled down to under 1 meter. Key components such as the stern propeller blades and servo mechanisms are precisely replicated, achieving high-precision coordination with the embedded control module.
The hardware core adopts the iMX6UL architecture, featuring a Cortex-A7 processor and 256MB DDR3 memory. It delivers high efficiency, energy savings, and stable operation, ensuring smooth system performance.

Intelligent Software Platform, Crafting Immersive Experiences

The system's software platform integrates electronic charts, vessel status monitoring (including multiple metrics such as latitude, longitude, heading, and speed), and simulated operation capabilities to present authentic navigation scenarios. Operators can experience the entire voyage of the “Yangtze Glory” through virtual waters via an interactive panel, enhancing both the enjoyment and practicality of the learning experience.

Promoting Green Shipping, Safeguarding the Yangtze River Ecosystem

The successful completion of this project not only marks a significant step forward for the Wuhan Port Maritime Office in promoting electric vessel technology, but also showcases Wuhan Yirun Technology Co., Ltd.'s innovative capabilities in high-end technology development. Moving forward, the electric vessel simulation operation demonstration system will be widely applied in training and promotion efforts, providing robust support for the green transformation of the Yangtze River shipping industry.

Green Yangtze, Building a Shared Future. The Wuhan Port Maritime Office and Wuhan Erun Technology Co., Ltd. will continue to join forces, contributing their wisdom and strength to building a clean, safe, and efficient Yangtze River shipping system.
