Wuhan Yirun Technology Successfully Completes the Entire Relocation Project for the Marine Engineering Program at Anhui Transportation Vocational and Technical College
--Two months to overcome the difficulties and realize the ”new rebirth” of the old equipment.”
August 15, 2024, Hefei Recently, Wuhan Yirun Technology Co., Ltd. successfully completed the relocation project for the entire marine engineering training base at Anhui Transportation Vocational and Technical College. Facing the technical risk of potential total failure after moving outdated equipment, the company's technical team rose to the challenge. Within 60 days, they efficiently relocated and upgraded two major training labs and over 40 sets of critical equipment. All operational equipment now functions normally, earning high praise from the college.
Project Challenge: The ”Technical Test” of Relocating Old Equipment”
This relocation involves core practical training equipment for the marine engineering program, including:
-
Marine Power Plant Operation Training LabComplete systems including 6350Z/6160 diesel engines, generator sets, marine boilers, and oil separators.
-
Power Equipment Assembly and Disassembly Training Lab6NVD48 diesel engine, Sulzer RD44 cylinder liners, refrigeration compressors, and other precision teaching equipment
The most difficult part of the project was that most of the equipment had been in use for more than 15 years, and there were problems such as aging lines and low system matching. The university was worried that the equipment would be completely scrapped after the relocation, but Wuhan E-Ren proposed a three-stage solution of ”Pre-overhaul - Customized Relocation - System Reconstruction”:
-
Comprehensive Pre-Relocation DiagnosisConduct 72-hour continuous operational testing on each piece of equipment to establish equipment health records.
-
Customized Relocation SolutionsDesign specialized shock-absorbing transport racks for precision equipment; seal critical pipelines with flanged blind flanges.
-
Systemic restructuringRedesign the mounting base and upgrade outdated piping and control systems for 80% and above models.
Pre-relocation training lab: Equipment layout was cramped, and piping and wiring were disorganized.
New Training Lab After Relocation: Functional Zones Clearly Defined, System Identifiers Clearly Labeled
Technological Breakthrough: Breathing New Life into Old Equipment
The project team creatively employed three key technical approaches to ensure success:
-
3D Scanning and Reconstruction TechnologyPerform laser scanning on critical equipment such as the 6NVD48 diesel engine to precisely prefabricate the mounting base.
-
Intelligent Hydraulic Calibration SystemSolving the Industry Challenge of Excessive Crankshaft Alignment Deviation in the 6160 Diesel Engine
-
Modular piping designQuick-release flange joints are adopted, enhancing subsequent disassembly and reassembly efficiency by 300%.
“The most pleasant surprise was the 6350Z diesel engine,” said the university's project manager, ”This 3-year old equipment, which had been out of service for 3 years, was transformed by the E-Run team, and its parameters were even better than the state before the relocation.”
A New Benchmark for Industry-Education Integration
The new training base officially commenced operations in September 2024, featuring the following key characteristics:
-
Establishment of a ”cloud platform for equipment health monitoring”, displaying all operating parameters in real time
-
An AR fault simulation system has been added, capable of generating 30 typical fault scenarios.
-
Redesign the piping color identification system in accordance with modern ship engine room standards.
The technical team successfully started the 6350Z diesel engine, with university representatives witnessing the event on-site.
Wuhan E-Run project manager said, ”This project provides a replicable technical paradigm for the relocation of old teaching equipment, and in the future we will continue to deepen our cooperation with institutions to promote the upgrading of equipment for nautical vocational education.”
