Marine Instrumentation is a core skills course in the five-year higher vocational education program for Marine Technology, and also one of the practical examination subjects for the Third Officer Certificate of Competency. Through this course, students primarily learn the basic functions, components, structure, principles, operation, and maintenance of marine instruments. It cultivates students' fundamental ability to use and maintain marine instruments, equipping them with the essential competencies required for marine officers in operating such equipment. Its prerequisite course is Marine Instruments.

System Composition

◆Main Unit

Wind direction indicator: A dual-ring LED display with the bow positioned at zero degrees. Each ring contains 36 LEDs, indicating real-time wind direction and wind direction range.

Wind speed display: Utilizes a two-line, three-digit LED display to show wind speed, heading, absolute wind speed, and maximum wind speed.

◆ Sensor Components

Wind speed sensor: Consists of three bowl-shaped wind cups arranged in a 120-degree balanced configuration and an optical speed sensor positioned near the shaft center.

Wind direction sensor: Consisting of a wind vane with a tail fin and counterweight, coupled with an absolute angle sensor positioned near the axis.

Mounting bracket: Used to install wind direction and wind speed sensors, as well as secure the junction box.

Junction box: Consists of a waterproof enclosure and a sensor transmitter.
