Jiangsu Maritime Vocational College traces its origins to Nanjing Maritime School and Nanjing Shipping School, established in 1951. It stands as the first institution founded after the establishment of the People's Republic of China dedicated to training seafarers for both ocean-going and inland waterway vessels. It also ranks among Jiangsu Province's earliest higher education institutions to integrate ISO 9000 quality management standards into Party building and educational administration.Over more than 60 years, the institution has cultivated over 130,000 technical and skilled professionals. These graduates are employed across domestic and international enterprises and organizations in ocean shipping, inland waterway transport, shipbuilding, port engineering, logistics and trade, information technology, and commerce. They have made significant contributions to China's shipping industry, cementing the college's reputation as a cradle for maritime talent.
