Satellite Emergency Radio Beacon

When a vessel encounters distress and sinks, the VEP8 beacon automatically ejects from its release mechanism and transmits a 406 MHz emergency distress signal. Upon reception by Cospas-Sarsat system satellites, the signal is relayed to the relevant emergency response center.
Reach the shore-based terminal. The LUT (Local User Terminal) will decode and analyze the beacon location, then relay it to the RCC (Rescue Coordination Center) to initiate emergency rescue operations.

A major challenge encountered in various marine economic activities is safety and lifesaving.Marine economic activities face potentially catastrophic incidents such as groundings, severe storms, massive waves, pirate attacks, threats from foreign military or police vessels, marine biological hazards, platform/vessel collisions, and loss of propulsion. These incidents pose grave dangers to human life and threaten the very viability of marine economic operations. Failure to resolve maritime distress alerting and rescue systems, or to reduce casualties, will directly impede the development of the marine economy.

To prevent casualties resulting from unreachable or delayed rescue efforts, the international COSPAS-SARSAT satellite organization was established and developed product specifications for Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBs).COSPAS-SARSAT (COSPAS is the Latinized Russian term; the full English name is Space System for Search of Distress Vessels, and SARSAT stands for Search and Rescue Satellite-Aided Tracking) was originally known as the “Low-Earth Orbit Search and Rescue Satellite System.” The system later incorporated geostationary satellites as repeaters, leading to its renaming as the “International Satellite System for Search and Rescue.”
