Innovative Simulator Empowers Ship Environmental Training: Wuhan Erun Technology Co., Ltd. Unveils Ballast Water Treatment System Simulation Platform
Wuhan, May 24, 2025 Wuhan Yirun Technology Co., Ltd. today announced the launch of its independently developed ballast water treatment simulator. This system is designed to enhance the effectiveness of crew training in ballast water management. Through an advanced interactive interface and real-time simulation capabilities, the simulator helps crew members master complex operational procedures, ensuring vessel operations comply with international environmental standards.
As a critical piece of equipment in the field of marine environmental protection technology, the ballast water treatment simulator addresses the pain points of traditional training—high equipment dependency and significant risks—by providing a comprehensive virtual training environment. The system supports both manual and automatic operating modes. In manual mode, users can precisely control valves, UV lamp arrays, flow rates, and pressure differential parameters to simulate ballasting, deballasting, or bypass scenarios, enabling a deep understanding of equipment details. In automatic mode, users select “Ballast Start” or “Discharge Start” via a single button on the main interface. The system then executes the process autonomously based on valve status and preset parameters. A dedicated mode-switching interface clearly displays the current operational status (ballasting/discharging/bypassing), enabling rapid user response.
The simulator incorporates a multi-tiered alarm mechanism to ensure training closely mirrors real-world vessel operational risks. Flow monitoring covers the 50-300 m³/h range, allowing users to simulate various operating conditions via a slider adjustment. When flow drops below 100 m³/h, the system triggers a low-flow alarm; exceeding 220 m³/h activates a high-flow alarm and automatically opens the bypass valve.Differential pressure management is equally rigorous, supporting adjustments within the 0-0.1 MPa range: - When differential pressure exceeds 0.03 MPa, the filter backwash program initiates, including coordinated operation of the drain valve and pump. - If pressure rises to 0.05 MPa, the system immediately shuts down, opens the bypass valve, and prompts for manual filter cleaning.UV dose monitoring triggers an alarm and shutdown when the threshold falls below 90 mJ/cm². Two sets of UV lamps can be independently switched on/off, enhancing equipment redundancy.Temperature control range is 0-70°C. Water temperature exceeding 50°C triggers an alarm and shutdown. Additionally, high/low water volume alarms activate when a single compartment exceeds 55 tons or falls below 5 tons. All alarms feature user-configurable delay mechanisms (e.g., 5 seconds) to optimize response and prevent false triggers.
For alarm management, the simulator provides a dedicated logging interface that details fault timing, type, and relevant parameters, enabling users to quickly clear alarms through parameter adjustments. This design not only enhances training interactivity but also cultivates crew members' fault diagnosis and recovery capabilities.
This simulator strictly adheres to the requirements of the Regulations on the Administration of Training for Seafarers of the People's Republic of China (2025 Edition) and the Code for the Assessment of Seafarers' Competency on Sea-going Ships (2024 Edition), ensuring training content aligns closely with national standards. The company states that this system will be widely adopted by maritime training institutions and shipping enterprises, helping seafarers enhance their environmental protection operational skills in a safe, controlled environment while reducing wear and tear on actual equipment and lowering operational costs.
Mr. Li, R&D Director at Wuhan Yirun Technology Co., Ltd., stated: “Ballast water treatment is a core component of marine environmental protection. Our simulator bridges theory and practice through digital means, driving the industry's training toward intelligent transformation.” The product is scheduled for official launch by the end of this month. Interested enterprises may schedule a demonstration via the company's official website.
